Finding the right survey
Buying a property is one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll ever make, so getting the right survey is key.
If your property is:
- relatively recently constructed
- conventionally built
- appears to be in good condition
then guidelines recommend a Level 2 Home Survey which provides a visual, non-invasive inspection of all reasonably accessible areas, looking out for serious problems that are readily evident.
If your property is:
- older
- run-down
- is large or has unusual features
- has been extended or significantly altered
- or if you’re planning to do any significant work to the property
Then a Level 3 Building Survey will give you a thorough understanding of the structure and condition of the property you’re looking to buy.
